University fees
Tuition, registration fees and other required university costs.
Salsabeel helps students in Egypt pay university and school costs their families cannot cover.
The program began in Siwa, where students may have to move away from home to attend university. Salsabeel currently supports one university student through a bursary and is adding a second in 2026.
Many university programs are outside Siwa, so students may have to pay for housing, food and travel as well as tuition.
Salsabeel started its university bursary program in 2025. Our first bursary student is Shaimaa, who is studying in Alexandria.
In 2026, we are expanding the program to support another university student. We would like to add more students in future years as funding allows.
Each bursary is based on the student's actual expenses. Depending on the student, this can include university fees, accommodation, food, transportation, books and other necessary study costs.
The costs vary by student. We look at what each student needs in order to continue their studies.

Living expenses for students who need to live away from their families while studying.
Travel to university and trips home, including the long trip between Siwa and other cities.
Books, study materials, internet and other items needed for university.
Shaimaa is from Siwa Oasis. She became Salsabeel's first university bursary student in 2025.
She is studying radiologic technology at Alexandria University. Because her program is in Alexandria, she has to live away from her family during the school year. Her bursary helps with the costs of studying and living there.
Shaimaa hopes to return to Siwa after graduating and work in health care there.
“The support has given me hope, strength and encouragement to keep working hard. My goal is to graduate and return to Siwa to serve my community.”
Shaimaa completed her first year in 2026 with an overall result of Excellent.
She received Excellent grades in most of her subjects, including Research Methods, English Language, First Aid, Principles of Quality and Administrative and Health Systems.
You can use the arrows to view the English and Arabic versions of her results.
Salsabeel is expanding its university bursary program so more students from Siwa can overcome education and living costs that could otherwise make university out of reach.
Donations support tuition, accommodation, food, transportation, books and other essential study costs. We respond to each student's needs with care and accountability.
We are raising $1,500 CAD to strengthen education support and help more students remain focused on their studies.
Every GoFundMe gift receives an official Canadian charitable receipt. Donations can also be sent by e-transfer to eiad@salsabeelcharity.org . Please note that the donation is for education support.

Our school fee project is separate from the university bursary program.
During a visit to Al Salam School in Siwa, we learned that some graduating students still owed required school fees. Students with unpaid fees could have had difficulty completing the year and sitting their final exams.
Salsabeel paid the outstanding fees for 20 graduating school students so they could sit their exams.
This was a specific school support project. It is different from our bursary program, which provides ongoing support to individual university students such as Shaimaa and other students as the program grows.
Salsabeel works with students and families through local contacts in Egypt. This helps us understand the costs each student is facing and how support will be used.
Salsabeel currently supports one university student and is adding a second in 2026. More funding would allow the program to support additional students.
