Food distribution

Mobile Food Bank
Launched in 2025, Salsabeel Charity’s Mobile Food Bank is our largest program to date. It brings essential groceries straight to families who need them most, with a simple goal: families should be able to count on food every month, especially during periods of soaring inflation and unstable income.
We started by supporting 15 families in Siwa, Egypt. Today, we support 35 families and have expanded to a second community in a low-income suburb of Alexandria. We have committed to supporting each family for at least one full year, and each month we now provide essentials to more than 100 people, most of whom are widows, older adults, and children. For many households, these food bags are not a bonus, they are a lifeline.
We work hard to keep costs down so that your donation goes further. Our volunteers coordinate with local vendors, compare prices, and negotiate wherever possible to secure the best value. This on-the-ground approach helps us stretch every dollar into real meals for real people, while keeping distributions consistent and reliable.
This program is especially close to our hearts. Our co-founder, Nehal, and our board member, Kyoka, first met while volunteering at the Abbotsford Food Bank in British Columbia, Canada. That experience shaped how we think about food security, community care, and the importance of reliable support, and it continues to inspire the way we run the Mobile Food Bank today.

Ramadan and Eid Food Distributions
Each year during Ramadan and Eid, Salsabeel Charity runs special food distributions to help families meet the increased needs that come with the season. For many households, this time of year brings extra pressure, with higher food costs and additional expectations around hosting, visiting family, and preparing for Eid. Our goal is simple: to make sure families can experience Ramadan with less stress, and celebrate Eid with dignity.
This is also something that Nehal has been doing for years, long before Salsabeel became a registered charity. What started as personal, community-led giving grew over time into a more organized effort, built on relationships and a deep understanding of what families need most during these months. That history is a big part of why this work feels so meaningful to us, and why we treat it with so much care.
We prepare and distribute Ramadan food hampers filled with core staples that can support a household for weeks. Ahead of Eid, we also organize targeted distributions that help families cover the essentials so they can mark the holiday in a meaningful way. These distributions are planned in partnership with local volunteers and community contacts who help identify families facing the greatest financial hardship, including widows, older adults, and families with children. We work hard to keep costs down by sourcing locally and negotiating with vendors, so that every donation can go further and reach more families.
