A place we call home
More than a neighbourhood
Al Manial is a historic neighbourhood on Al-Rawda Island in the heart of Cairo. Surrounded by the Nile and located near Cairo University and central Cairo, it is known for its tree-lined streets, active local markets and strong sense of community.
For Salsabeel’s founders, Nehal Azab and Eiad El Fateh, Al Manial is much more than a location on a map. Their family has been part of the neighbourhood for nearly a century, and its people, streets and traditions have shaped generations of their family.
Our family story
A connection spanning generations
Nehal’s father left his village to study law at Cairo University. He eventually settled in Al Manial and built a life there with Nehal’s mother, who had lived in the neighbourhood throughout her life.
Their story became part of a much larger family connection to Al Manial. It was a place of education, work, friendship, celebration and mutual support—a community where neighbours knew one another and families remained connected across generations.
Our connection to Al Manial is not simply about remembering where we came from. It is about remaining responsible to the people and community that helped shape us.
