Salsabeel Bursary Program
Launched in 2025, Salsabeel Charity’s bursary program was created to remove the financial barriers that prevent talented students from rural and low-income communities from accessing higher education. For many families, the cost of university is not limited to tuition. It also includes transportation, housing, food, books, supplies, and the loss of income when a student has to relocate or reduce working hours to study. In places like Siwa Oasis, where the nearest university is many hours away, these costs can make post-secondary education feel out of reach, even for students with strong grades and clear ambition.
Our bursary program covers education and living costs so students can focus on their studies, succeed academically, and build stable careers. We prioritize high-achieving, community-minded students who demonstrate both financial need and a commitment to giving back. Beyond the financial support, we aim to provide encouragement and continuity: checking in on progress, celebrating milestones, and helping recipients stay on track through multi-year programs that require sustained effort.
Shimaa was our first bursary recipient. With donor support, she is attending Alexandria University to become a radiologic technologist. Upon graduation, she plans to return to serve her community, where access to specialized health services is limited and health care professionals, especially women in health care roles, are in critical demand. Supporting students like Shimaa is an investment in long-term, local impact: one graduate can strengthen an entire community for years to come.

School Fees Support
Alongside post-secondary bursaries, Salsabeel also provides school fees for students in their final year of primary, middle, and secondary school. This support is critical because many families cannot afford annual fees, and students can be forced to leave school just before they are eligible to sit for their exams. When this happens, it is not because students lack ability or motivation. It is simply because the costs come at the worst possible time, and families are already choosing between basics like food, rent, transportation, and medical needs.
That is why this program focuses specifically on graduating students. By covering fees at the finish line, we help protect the years of effort that students and families have already invested. It is a simple intervention with huge impact. It keeps students enrolled, gives them access to their exams, and helps them move forward with a real credential that can open doors to the next stage of education, vocational options, and eventually stable employment.
In our most recent initiative, we partnered with Al Salam Primary School in Siwa to fund school fees for 20 graduating students who were at risk of being unable to take their final exams due to financial constraints. Siwa is a remote oasis community where economic opportunities are limited and educational resources can be scarce. By covering these fees, we helped students stay enrolled through the end of the year, complete their schooling, and prepare for their exams with renewed confidence and hope.
